As part of the 48-km Baiyappanahalli-Hosur railway doubling project, the Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) (K-RIDE) has successfully installed two 61-meter-long, 245-tonne steel girders at Major Bridge No. 470 over National Highway-44 near Chandapura. The installation was completed in two phases on October 10 and October 28, 2026.
The bridge features an innovative shared-substructure design that eliminates the need for a central pier within the highway span, accommodating both railway tracks while clearing the path for the proposed development of a 12-lane highway. K-RIDE Managing Director Lakshman Singh noted that this grade-separated crossing will ensure seamless, independent movement for both road and rail traffic, significantly minimizing highway disruptions caused by train operations.
